Pew restoration begins with the disassembly of the damaged components. In this example, the original hide glue joint has separated a. in the end and b. the seat.

The cracked and damaged pine support boards are removed and in the case of this pew the pine seat trim was removed to facilitate seat repair. All original fasteners (i.e., screws, nails) are removed labeled and returned to their original locations.
