| Cracks, splits and chips in the poplar seat were repaired with poplar inlays. New butternut ends are fabricated and installed after seat restoration, which eliminates the need for nails, and cleats that originally supported the pews and attached them to the partition. The new ends are simply butted up and screwed to the partition. | |||||||
